A dual US-Japanese citizen, Toshi first started his career at AT & T Bell Laboratories as a Senior Staff Technologist. He was then an Invited Researcher at Tokyo Institute of Technology before returning to Palo Alto CA, as a member of the Technical Team for VCSEL development of the Hewlett-Packard laboratories.
In 1992, Toshi joined the Bandgap Technonology company in Boulder, Colorado, as head of the R & D for the design, production and sales of GaAS VECSELS. Bandgap became the world’s first vendor of 2-dimensional VCSELs under Toshi’s management.
In 1994, Toshi created Optobahn in Los Angeles, for the design and sales of opto-electronic components. As President of Optobahn, he negotiated a joint-venture with NGK (Japan) which was interested in developing its ceramic components in the electronic industry.
In cooperation with M. H. Mottier (also on this site), Toshi developed and secured majors orders for several US and European telecommunication companies and more specifically for the new CERN (Geneva) new hadron collider.
In 2003, Optobahn was spun-off to Ibiden (Japan) and Toshi created Inteleo, Japan of which is is the current CEO. He also provides consulting services to such companies as Omron, NEC, Samsung, API and PCL (China).
